Launching a blog in 2022 is an easy process. All you need is a domain to buy, Bluehost to host your blog (affiliate link), and install WordPress. It’s set.

Yet, gaining organic traffic on Google is a lengthy process. It can take you around 8–12 months to start seeing regular traffic on your blog so you can monetize it with AdSense.

So if your blog is new, it can be challenging.

That said, many people have this question in their mind — How to get traffic initially if your blog is new?

I know lots of bloggers have this common answer — Use social media platforms like Facebook to get traffic in the beginning.

But what most of them don’t tell us is — How?

I can relate because I faced it too.

When I was first getting familiar with blogging, I had most of my time spent finding a way to gain initial traction to my blog which I did.

I’ll share two ways of getting initial traffic to your blog which I used when I was active with my blog.

Join as many Facebook groups as you can

When I was doing my part of my research, I found that creating a Facebook page helps your blog reach a larger audience. So I created one for my blog. But what I didn’t know was how to get followers and likes on my Facebook page.

I tried Facebook advertisements where I ran ads for one of my posts. It reached a good number of people and some of them did convert to my blog visitors. But running ads was the short-term solution. I can’t run ads every time to gain traffic.

So I explored different ways to get followers and organic reach on my Facebook page without any advertisements. One way that I found helped me to gain organic reach that I learned from a digital marketing expert.

As the title suggests, join as many Facebook groups as you can. But all must relate to your blog’s niche and should be active. Share your blog articles on these groups but don’t spam them. Keep it simple. One or two post links in a day. Engage with other people’s posts and like, comment, and share them.

Once you do that, you can increase your blog’s traffic and your Facebook page’s followers count.

Don’t worry if you don’t have a Facebook page, you can directly share the link in those groups.

Use Twitter as your traffic weapon

You’ll be surprised when I’ll tell you that though I was actively sharing my post links on Facebook groups, a major part of the traffic I received was from Twitter.

Don’t take Twitter as a place to tweet only. It can be more than that!

But, one thing to note here is that my posts in which I received major traffic from Twitter were trending. I once wrote an article on iPhone SE which was at the time trending on Twitter. It received a huge number of impressions and clicks. If I remember correctly, my blog received more than 100 visitors on a single day.

So if you are writing something that is trending or has potential, you should definitely share it on Twitter. But irrespective of that, I would recommend you to always share your post links on Twitter. Who knows what can go viral in seconds? But don’t forget to use hashtags!

The Takeaway

If you still haven’t tried the above method yet, you’re missing out a lot. It can be a legit way to give initial exposure to your blog. Bringing a lot of traffic can be challenging when you are focused on organic reach. But leveraging social media platforms can be the best trick to get that from day one.
